Academic Leaders

  • Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dr. h.c. Jörg Becker

    Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dr. h.c. Jörg BeckerJörg Becker is Professor for Information Systems and Information Management and head of Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster. Since 2004 he has been Academic Director of the European Research Centre for Information Systems; since 2008 he has been Prorector for Structure, Planning and Quality of the University of Münster; since 2011, he has been Honorary Professor of the National Research University at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow. He is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences. His research and teaching fields encompass Conceptual Modelling, Semantic Business Process Modelling, Business Process Management, Information Modelling, Reference Modelling, Management Information Systems, Retail IS, IS for Manufacturing Industries, and Service Science and E-Government. Jörg has published in more than 400 refereed papers at international conferences and in scientific journals. In addition, he is author/editor of several books, in particular on project management, and he regularly serves on the editorial board of internationally renowned conferences and journals.
  • Prof. Dr. Heike Trautmann

    Prof. Dr. Heike TrautmannHeike Trautmann is Professor of Information Systems and Statistics at the University of Münster. She graduated in Statistics and, after working in a consulting company for two years, she joined the Graduate School of Production Engineering and Logistics at TU Dortmund University and received her PhD in 2004. After her habilitation in 2014 she became a Professor for Statistics within the Department of Information Systems at the University of Muenster.
    Her current research activities are focused on multiobjective (evolutionary) optimisation - in particular preference incorporation, performance assessment, process chains and stopping criteria - as well as algorithm selection and benchmarking concepts. She was involved in organizing the special session "Designing Evolutionary Processes" at the Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) in 2010, the "Joint Workshop on Automated Selection and Tuning of Algorithms" at Parallel Problem Solving from Nature (PPSN) in 2012 as well as the track "Multiobjective Optimization" at the Evolve Conferences in 2012 and 2014. Furthermore, she organized the 1st Workshop on COnfiguration and SElection of ALgorithms (COSEAL) in Münster in 2014. Currently, she has active collaborations with researchers in Brazil, Australia, Canada and Mexico.
  • Prof. Dr. Gottfried Vossen

    Prof. Dr. Gottfried VossenGottfried Vossen is a Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Information Systems at the University of Münster in Germany. He is a Fellow of the German Computer Science Society and an Honorary Professor at the University of Waikato Management School in Hamilton, New Zealand. In 2004 he became the European Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier's Information Systems - An International Journal, and a Director of the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) in Münster. He has been and is a member in numerous program committees of international conferences and workshops, among them the ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, the IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering, the International Conference on Extending Database Technology, the East European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information Systems, or the International Workshop on Semantic Web Information Management, and he has also chaired a number of program committees. His research interests include conceptual as well as application-oriented challenges concerning databases, information systems, social business process modeling, and Web 2.0 applications, cloud computing, and big data.

    Dipl.-Kfm. Karsten Kraume, MCom, BSc, CIO/CSO Arvato CRM SolutionsKarsten Kraume is CIO/CSO and a member of the board at Arvato CRM Solutions, with a team of 1050 portfolio solutions design, and technology experts based at Arvato’s 110 locations across the world. Karsten leads on Arvato’s long-term partnership with ERCIS and, since 2010, has worked on multiple projects including Connected Devices, Digital Mobile Applications and Advanced Analytics. Drawing on his experience of real-life cases in the High-Tech, BFSI, Automotive and Healthcare sectors, Karsten also makes an active contribution to teaching at ERCIS, its multiple Advisory Boards, and the CRM Competence Center.

    Dipl.-Kfm. Klaus Voormanns, Vice President Global Portfolio Management Arvato CRM SolutionsKlaus Voormanns is Vice President Global Portfolio Management at Arvato CRM Solutions. Together with his local colleagues Klaus is shaping and innovating Arvato CRMs’ product portfolio. Klaus manages Arvato’s relationship with the ERCIS Omni-Channel lab and, based on his deep experience of Business Process Management (BPM), is playing a pivotal role in setting up the CRM Reference Model (a current Lab initiative). Klaus holds a degree in business administration and, before joining Arvato in 2002, worked with leading software companies developing and rolling out innovative BPM solutions.

    Jiaqing Zhong, MBA, B.A., Manager Strategy Execution Arvato CRM SolutionsJiaqing Zhong, Manager Strategy Execution at Arvato CRM Solutions, is currently supporting its global Analytics Community to leverage and accelerate its consultative expertise through a period of digital transformation. Her experience of analytics related activities – like social media, segmentation and customer journey analysis – is of particular importance to the work of the ERCIS Omni-channel lab. Jiaqing studied business administration and previously worked as a Business Process Outsourcing Partner in the automotive sector.

    Matthias Carnein is a doctoral candidate at the group for Data Science: Statistics and Optimization at the University of Münster. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Information Systems from the University of Münster in 2013 and 2015, respectively. His current research focuses on methods used in data science including the analysis of data streams and clustering with applications in market segmentation and customer relationship management.
